Nelson Teed is a manufacturing specialist for the Manufacturing Technology Center of Wytheville, VPMEP's partner that provides manufacturing extension services to Southwest Virginia. He has 26 years of manufacturing experience in a wide range of industries, including polymer processing, aerospace, and automotive. Nelson has over 20 years of management experience at all levels. All of his experiences combined have allow him to develop consulting capabilities in the following areas: lean manufacturing training and implementation; kaizen/continuous improvement; process development and troubleshooting; plant layout; and equipment design, procurement, installation and startup. Prior to joining MTC, he was founder and president of Lean Manufacturing Consulting Firm Polymer Development LLC and director of technology, engineering manager, and process engineering supervisor for Longwood Elastomers, Inc. Nelson holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio's Kent State University and a Master of Science in Industrial Management from Gannon University in Erie, PA. He is APICS certified and a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers.
