Partnership arrangements with the Virginia Applied
Technology & Professional Development Center (VATPDC) at Old Dominion University and the Manufacturing Technology Center (MTC) in Wytheville bring services to manufacturers from Hampton Roads to Southwest Virginia.
MTC in southwestern Virginia is a consortium of five community colleges. It provides workforce training and manufacturing modernization services in southwestern Virginia.
VATPDC primarily provides faculty-based engineering services to manufacturers for product and process prototype development and testing in the Hampton Roads area and across Virginia.
VMA develops constructive policies and activities on behalf of industry by serving as an advocate for legislative, regulatory, taxation, environmental, workplace, business law, insurance, and technology issues, and as an aggregator of business services for its members.
In 2003, VPMEP became part of a collaborative effort with Virginia
Tech to equip firms with advanced technical skills. This includes Virginia Tech's continuing and Professional Education Group (VT-CPE), and Center for High Performance Manufacturing (VT-CHPM).
In 2003, the world's
foremost Lean Six Sigma certification program was created through a VPMEP partnership with George Group
