William "Bill" Donohue is Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for GENEDGE ALLIANCE (formerly VPMEP)
Bill manages a statewide partnership of experienced business consultants who are committed to improving the competitiveness of Virginia industries through business growth services, process improvement and innovation. To achieve this, Bill mobilizes substantial experience in manufacturing operations, resource management and strategic planning. Through the years, he has been able to incorporate his expertise with a wide variety of high impact disciplines such as Supply Chain Management, Lean Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma, Growth Services and Innovation. His unique and encompassing synthesis of these business improvement tools combined with his vast, hands-on experience with market leaders such as General Electric (GE) enables him to provide a clear “roadmap” to optimization that is both unique and realistic for Virginia’s manufacturing and industrial clients.
In fact, since 2000, independent sources have verified that GENEDGE ALLIANCE delivered over $1.4 billion in impact to Virginia industries. In addition, for every $1 invested, GENEDGE ALLIANCE has returned $36 in impact to Virginia firms. Such impact figures have been driven in part by Bill’s ability to establish and refine strategic initiatives for clients who are seeking to drive their firms toward optimization and operational excellence. Throughout the last decade, Bill has helped lead GENEDGE ALLIANCE repeatedly to a position among the top few leading Manufacturing Extension Partnerships as part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology federally funded programs (otherwise known as NIST-MEP).
GENEDGE ALLIANCE continues to be recognized by the NIST-MEP network and score significantly in terms of impact on Virginia industries. His client engagements/project scope have included: American Red Cross (Healthcare Supply Chain Management), Applied Felts (Innovation, Product Development and Lean Manufacturing), AREVA NP (Lean Six Sigma), Boehringer Ingelheim Chemicals (Lean Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing), Comptroller of the Currency (Lean Six Sigma), Hill Phoenix (Strategic Planning and Policy Deployment), Misys Healthcare (Lean Six Sigma), Naval Sea Systems Command (Strategic Planning and Strategic Leadership Development and Guidance), Northrop Grumman Ship Building (Supply Chain Management, Lean Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing), and Virginia Mirror (Ideation, New Product Development).
Prior to joining GENEDGE ALLIANCE, Bill completed start-up, expansion and turnaround executive assignments for Fortune 500 companies in sealants, packaging, and pressure sensitive adhesive and electronic films manufacture. He is a chemical engineering graduate of the University of Rochester and the General Electric Chemical Management Program. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
