Mark Oakes is an Engagement Manager in GENEDGE’s Richmond office. An industrial engineer by training, his 25 years of experience has included consulting capabilities in industrial engineering, Lean manufacturing, value stream mapping, Six Sigma, plant layout, and industrial process improvement. Mark is a NIST certified instructor and has delivered over 200 workshops on Lean techniques. He is one of GENEDGE’s lead instructors in Six Sigma and has taught over 300 Black Belt and Green Belt students. He has worked with major clients including the United States Nuclear Regulatory Agency, the United States Navy, the United States Marine Corp, UNICOR, Boehringer Ingelheim Chemicals, and many other local companies. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia Tech, and a Masters in Administration - Industrial Management from Lynchburg College. Mark is a past president of the Institute of Industrial Engineers' Richmond chapter and past Chair of the Richmond Joint Engineers Council.
