Steve Demos is a principal consulting
engineer with VPMEP's partner in the Tidewater area, the Virginia Applied
Technology & Professional Development Center (VATPDC) of Old Dominion
University. Steve brings to VATPDC over 25 years of experience as a line manager
with increasing responsibilities in engineering, manufacturing, product
development, sales and general management. Steve is recognized as an authority
and practitioner of the principles of Dr. W. Edwards Deming related to
statistical process control and Six Sigma principles for the improvement of
quality, time to market and customer satisfaction. Steve had the unique
opportunity to work closely with Dr. Deming for over 10 years. He has a track
record of 20 years of proven successes in the implementation of Lean/Six Sigma
Manufacturing Principles in all business processes and is a Lean/Six Sigma Black
Belt. His team-based initiatives in previous positions have resulted in major
cost improvements and waste reductions, increased sales and expanded customer
base due to superior product quality and customer service. Prior to coming to
VATPDC Steve worked for General Electric, Nashua Corporation, Hitachi Metals
Technology and KITCO Fiber Optics. He holds a Bachelor of Science and Masters
degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire.
